Mitchell Beazley is serving up a guide to home coffee-making by Square Mile Coffee Roasters m.d. and former World Barista Champion James Hoffmann.
Group publisher Denise Bates acquired world rights in all languages for How to Make the Best Coffee at Home from Ben Clark at the Soho Agency. It will be published in August 2022.
The synopsis states: “Leading coffee expert James Hoffmann shows readers how to make barista-level coffee at home. He demonstrates everything you need to know to make consistently excellent coffee, including: what kit is worth buying, and what isn’t; understanding the key elements, from water to coffee extraction levels; the basics of brewing, with tutorials for all major equipment (cafetière, AeroPress, stovetop and much more); how to get the best out of your coffee grinder; understanding coffee drinks, from the flat white to the macchiato; and making the perfect espresso.”
Hoffmann is the managing director of Square Mile Coffee Roasters, an award-winning coffee roasting company based in east London. He was also the World Barista Champion 2007, having won the UK Barista competition in both 2006 and 2007. His first book The World Atlas of Coffee (Mitchell Beazley) sold more than 320,000 copies worldwide, according to the publisher, and he has a YouTube following of more than one million.
Bates said: “James has a wonderful ability to share his knowledge of and passion for excellent coffee in a very approachable, helpful way, as witnessed by his wildly successful YouTube videos. This book is like having James with you in the kitchen, helping you take every cup of coffee to the next level.”
Hoffmann added: “I’m excited to be working with Mitchell Beazley again, and proud of the book we have made. The demand for great coffee at home has never been higher, with more people taking an interest in the coffee they brew over the past two years. The book hopefully appeals to anyone who enjoys making coffee, whether it is someone looking for a little guidance or someone looking to see how deep the rabbit-hole of great
coffee goes!”
