Mitchell Beazley has served Supper with Charlie Bigham, the first cookbook from the founder of the eponymous independent food brand.
World all-language rights were acquired by publisher Alison Starling from Caroline Dawnay at United Agents. The cookbook will be published in September 2024 and supported with an “extensive” PR campaign.
Supper with Charlie Bigham features more than 100 of the author’s favourite home food recipes including fish pie and lasagne. The recipes are pitched as “fuss-free” and “flavourful”, with the book containing photographs from David Loftus.
Starling commented: “The first cookbook by Charlie Bigham was almost certainly on the wish list of every illustrated cookbook publisher in town and it feels like a huge privilege to be publishing the book. Charlie is one of the most inspiring entrepreneurs I’ve worked with – engaged, passionate about good-quality food and a wonderful communicator, both on the page and in person. The book looks fabulous but above all it’s destined to be one that home cooks will use again and again.”
Bigham added: “Over the years a lot of Charlie Bigham’s customers have suggested I write a cookbook – it’s finally happened and has turned out to be a lot of fun. I’ve included all my favourite recipes from home that have been refined over the years and have got the thumbs up from family and friends alike. Everything is easy to cook, full of flavour and, in keeping with how I like to cook, can be made without any fuss while having a good chat (and maybe a drink) with whoever happens to be with you in the kitchen. I’m hoping that the book will inspire people to try cooking a few things they may not have cooked before – and have a great time doing it.”
