Mitchell Beazley has announced the tenth cookbook from award-winning cook Diana Henry.
The book will be entitled Simple: effortless food, big flavours. Denise Bates, group publishing director at Octopus Publishing Group, acquired world rights all languages directly from the author.
Simple will be published in hardback in September 2016, priced £25. It provides no-fuss recipes readers can quickly rustle up using "the kind of ingredients we are most likely to find in our cupboard or fridge" but "will knock your socks off with their flavour".
Dishes include "Lamb Chops with Walnut, Chilli and Honey Salsa Verde"; "New York Style Takeaway Noodles with Sesame and Cucumber"; and "Baked Cod with a Crab and Herb Crust".
Henry has won the title Cookery Journalist of the Year from the Guild of Food Writers three times, most recently in 2015, and Cookery Writer of the Year at the Fortnum & Mason Food Awards in 2013 and 2015. Her book A Change of Appetite (Mitchell Beazley) was voted Cookbook of the Year by the Guild of Food Writers in 2015. Diana has written nine other books including Crazy Water Pickled Lemons, A Bird in the Hand, Cook Simple, Salt Sugar Smoke, and Roast Figs Sugar Snow (Mitchell Beazley).
Bates said: "It’s such a privilege to publish Diana’s tenth cookbook. Her audience, and sales, grow with each new title and every time I think Diana can't possibly better what she has done before. But in Simple she really has. This is such a magical collection of recipes – easy to put together, absolutely packed with interesting flavours, and delivered in Diana’s inimitable voice. You really will wonder what you cooked before you had this book.”
Henry said: “The dishes in Simple are the kind I cook every day. They’re interesting – from all over the globe – and have lots of flavour, but they’re not taxing. There are recipes for Wednesday night suppers for the family and Sunday lunches – the lazy sort! – for friends. Inexperienced cooks will find this book as useful – and useable - as more seasoned ones. What we’re really short of when it comes to every day cooking is ideas – and that’s what I’ve given in Simple. Lots of them.”
