Mitchell Beazley is serving up six new wine and spirits books including SCOTCH: The Balmoral Guide to Scottish Whisky, One Thousand Vines: A New Way to Understand Wine and In Fine Spirits.
Commissioning editor Jeannie Stanley acquired world rights in all languages from Martine Carter at Sauce Management for Neil Ridley and Joel Harrison’s In Fine Spirits, a "lively exploration" of the world’s most popular spirits, to be published on 10th October 2024. World rights in all languages were also acquired by Stanley for SCOTCH, from the team at the eponymous Edinburgh whisky bar, for publication on 24th October.
Publisher Alison Starling acquired world English rights from Jonah Straus at Straus Literary for One Thousand Vines, the first book from sommelier Pascaline Lepeltier. It will be published on 10th October.
Starling also acquired world rights in all languages to Wine Taste Pair Pour: Grow Your Knowledge with Every Glass directly from the author Charlotte Kristensen, a wine educator and columnist. The book is "designed to empower the reader with accessible jargon-free knowledge and practical advice" and will be published on 12th September 2024.
A new edition of Hugh Johnson’s Hugh Johnson’s Pocket Wine Book, now in its 48th year of publication, will be published in 12th September 2024 and a revised edition of The World Atlas of Whisky by Dave Broom will also be published on 10th October 2024.
Starling commented "Mitchell Beazley’s drinks list has a long and distinguished heritage dating back to the 1970s when Hugh Johnson launched the first World Atlas of Wine and Pocket Wine Book. His ethos — ’If you want to sell a lot of books, you’ve got to think about the reader first’ — is at the heart of everything we do. Our mission is to work with the very best drinks writers in the field to create books that are informative, incisive and beautifully designed and produced. We are proud of the international reach of the list and to be the UK’s number one drinks publisher. The range and scope of this year’s programme looks set to keep it that way."
