Monoray has acquired Don't Panic! All the Stuff the Expectant Dad Needs to Know by comedian George Lewis.
Jake Lingwood, publisher, acquired world rights from Andy Leitch at Off The Kerb. It will be published on 3rd February 2022.
Don't Panic! is billed as the "essential book for new dads" and will include tips, inside knowledge and real‐life stories from fellow comedians including Adam Kay, Andy Parsons, Carl Donnelly, Elis James, Iain Stirling, Ivo Graham, Jen Brister, Josh Widdicombe, Kerry Godliman, Matt Crosby, Rich Hall, Romesh Ranganathan, Russell Kane and Sindhu Vee.
Lingwood said: "A new parenting classic for dads seems to come around about every 10 years – and this is the new dad on the block. George has absolutely nailed the art of combining friendly, accessible, good advice, with being laugh‐out‐loud funny. I look forward to Don't Panic selling for years and years to come."
Lewis commented: "Becoming a dad is the most brilliant, terrifying and confusing thing you’ll ever experience and most of us go into it not having a clue what we’re doing. There’s a few good books on the market that tell you how to sterilise a bottle and change a nappy, but they don’t really prepare you for how it feels to be a dad. That advice came from my mates. So, that’s what this book is — a book full of all the practical and emotional stuff your mates would tell you, with the help of some of mine. I’ve got to admit that it does really help that a lot of my mates are comedians though!"
Lewis’s writing credits include "Have I Got News for You", "8 out of 10 Cats" and his own weekly football column Funny Old Game in the Times. He recently appeared on the ITV2's "Stand Up Sketch Show", "Top Gear Extra Gear", "Celebrity Mastermind" and he presents the "Britpopcast" for Radio X.
