Moon + Bird is set to publish five-minute bedtime stories and meditation treasure from former Buddhist monk, astrophysicist and mindfulness teacher Dr Mark Westmoquette. Illustrator Kiki Kita (The Tide is Rising and My Wheel of the Year) will provide illustrations. Former Moon + Bird publisher Fiona Robertson acquired world all-language rights to Look Up at Bedtime: 5 Minute Activities and Stories to Share the Wonder of the Universe from Caroline Montgomery of Rupert Crew Limited, on behalf of Westmoquette, and Rosie Barlow of Astound on behalf of Kita. Commissioning editor Brittany Willis will edit the book.
The publisher described the book as "a trove of five-minute calming bedtime activities, myths and stories focused on the night sky perfect for families with children aged four and up”. The book is scheduled to publish globally on the 24th February 2026.
Willis said: "I love that this book provides a new angle to the children’s wellbeing market. Not only is it perfect for any star- and planet-obsessed young readers, but – due to Mark’s expertise as an astrophysicist and Buddhist monk – the 20 activities and stories combine fascinating details about space with techniques for self-soothing and
reflection that can used in the day or night."
Head of Moon + Bird Laura Whitaker-Jones added: "Parents will want to share this book with their kids not only to give them self-soothing techniques and to help them fall asleep at bedtime, but also to open their eyes to the awesomeness of the universe!"
Montgomery said: "I’m absolutely delighted that Look Up at Bedtime has found a home with Moon + Bird. Mark’s engaging combination of science, legend and meditation is bound to become a firm favourite with children and their parents."
