Television and film rights have been snapped up at auction by Moonage Pictures for debut author Holly Jackson's YA crime thriller, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (Egmont).
The rights for TV and film were bought by newly formed London-based production company Moonage Pictures from Emily Hayward-Whitlock at The Artists Partnership, on behalf of Sam Copeland at Rogers, Coleridge and White. Moonage Picture's first production “Curfew” aired on Sky One in February 2019, and the team have previously worked on shows such as “Peaky Blinders”, “Doctor Foster” and “Happy Valley”.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder follows Pippa, a teenage girl who has grown up in a small town consumed by the murder of a local school girl. But when she begins to investigate the cold case she uncovers dangerous secrets. Billed by Egmont as having a "chilling, yet addictive, plot", it will be published on Thursday (2nd May).
Jackson said: "The team at Moonage have worked on some of my absolute favourite TV shows, so their enthusiasm for A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is unbelievably exciting. It’s every author’s dream to one day see their story on screen and I couldn’t have asked for a more creative, experienced team to help make that happen.'
The book will be published in the US by Penguin Random House and will be followed by another standalone title from Jackson in 2020. It was bought by Egmont last year.
