HarperCollins has signed “a hilarious yet biting royal faux-memoir" from the recently revealed creator of The Secret Tory Twitter account Henry Morris.
Morris is an online satirist and political commentator. The viral The Secret Tory Twitter account has around 200,000 followers, and inspired the spin-off book The Diary of A Secret Tory MP (2022, HarperCollins). Also a rave promoter and personal trainer, Morris’ true identity was revealed in May as reported by the BBC.
Mudlark publishing director Joel Simmons negotiated the deal for world all language rights with Jane Graham Maw at the Graham Maw Christie Agency.
The Diary of a Secret Royal will be published under the Mudlark imprint in hardback, audiobook and e-book formats on 28th September 2023. HarperCollins dubbed it “a hilarious yet biting royal faux-memoir".
The blurb reads: “From transgressions to successions and travesties to majesties, longstanding trusted toady and master of the NDA, Fenton Footlicker Esq, has seen it all. They call him the ‘Royal Flush’ because he always cleans up the messes his charges leave behind.
“The Diary of a Secret Royal chronicles 18 months in the life of this uniquely positioned panderer as he takes Queen Elizabeth to rehab, tackles the fallout from King Charles’s backstreet vasectomy and foils a breakout from the Balmoral Forced Labour Camp.”
Morris said: “Not nearly enough is written about the Royal Family and I felt that this was something that needed addressing urgently. I hope The Diary of a Secret Royal gives these colossal figures the portrayals they deserve because without them, the last of the great British industries – NDAs, shit London gift shops, gutter journalism – would collapse. God Save The King.”
Simons said: “Rave promoter, Shakespeare producer, deplorable Tory. There’s nothing Henry Morris can’t do. And this new book confirms him as one of the best satirists working today.”
