Mountain Leopard Press will publish acclaimed Ukrainian author Andrey Kurkov’s latest work narrating Ukrainian defiance during the Russian invasion.
Christopher MacLehose, publisher, acquired world English language rights to Diary of an Invasion direct from the author. It will publish on 29th September simultaneously with more than 20 publishers in Europe.
The book is told through a narrative of diary entries. The publisher described it as “part political commentary, part personal journal” where Kurkov explores the “fraught interrelation of the Russian/Ukrainian history and the complicated coexistence of their languages".
It added: “In detailing the instances of resistance, he builds an image of a culture that is – contrary to Putin’s claims – unique and democratic, liberal and diverse, one that will ‘resist to the end’.”
The book also shares Kurkov’s decision to leave his home in Kyiv, interweaving his own personal journey with the numerous stories of other displaced Ukrainians.
