Paramount Players has brought in producer and writer Kay Oyegun for a movie adaptation of Angie Thomas’ YA novel On the Come Up (Walker).
The book, released in February this year, follows aspiring rapper Bri who sees one of her songs go viral “for all the wrong reasons”.
A film version was originally planned by Fox 2000, the company that released a film of her previous hit novel The Hate U Give, but has now moved to Paramount, Deadline reported.
Oyegun, who currently works on NBC series "This Is Us", will write the screenplay, while George Tillman Jr will direct in a co-production between Temple Hill and State Street Pictures.
