Murdoch Books has seized the debut cookbook from TikTok "sensation" Nathaniel Smith, also known as The Grubworks Kitchen.
Céline Hughes, UK publisher at Murdoch Books, bought world English language rights from Jo Bell at Bell Lomax Moreton. Flayvaful will publish in April 2024 in hardback and is inspired by the author’s Jamaican heritage and the "epic flavour combinations" that have earned him the nickname "King of Flayvas" on his platforms.
Smith said: “Flayvaful is a representation of me, Nathan. I never studied food or went to culinary school and instead managed to clock up a few years work experience in a handful of professional kitchens in London but really and truly the foundations of my cooking are from my culture and childhood. Flayvaful is here to make food with flayvas easy! It’s about understanding exactly what flayvas are and how you can take your cooking to the next level.”
Hughes added: “Nathan makes his recipes look so good that you can almost taste them when you watch his videos. Now his book will give everyone the chance to re-create some of that flayvaful magic at home and change their cooking game forever. Nathan is an inspiration and a natural talent.”
