Murdoch Books has acquired world all-language rights from Borra Garson at DML Talent to the “life-changing guide to menopause”, Food for Menopause by Dr Linia Patel.
The four-pillar lifestyle guide – featuring 80 everyday recipes – explains the effects of perimenopause, menopause and postmenopause on the body and the fundamental impact that nutrition plays in this inevitable transition. By understanding how food – but also sleep, stress management and movement – can support the management of symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, mood swings and hot flushes, women can not only prepare for a better menopause early on, but can be active participants in determining how they age.
Food for Menopause will be published on September 12th 2024.
Dr Patel said: “Every woman goes through perimenopause and the menopause, but her experience of the journey will be unique to her. With this book I wanted to create a toolkit for women in their late thirties and beyond to help them understand what is going on but more importantly to empower them to be able to tailor their nutrition and lifestyle in an approach that is specific to their personal symptoms, circumstances and journey.”
She added: “This book isn’t simply an amazing resource that contains delicious recipes but it’s a mission; a mission that helps women get agency of their body as they age.”
Céline Hughes, publisher at Murdoch Books, said: “This September, we’re proudly publishing leading dietitian Dr Linia Patel’s first book, in which she tackles the menopause with simple information, lots of daily recipe ideas and an authority that gently and kindly inspires confidence. As a dietitian advising high-performing women how to adapt their eating to achieve the best versions of themselves, Linia is uniquely placed to teach women how to thrive at every stage of menopause.”
