Muswell Press has acquired world English language rights to Donna Freed's memoir, There Are Things We Do Not Say, in a deal made with Katie Fulford at Bell Lomax Moreton.
After the death of her adoptive mother in 2009, Freed began tracking down her birth mother and subsequently discovered that her parents had been infamous con artists in the 1960s. The memoir will explore how Freed felt when she feel when she finally met her birth mother, how becoming a mother herself impacted her feelings towards her two mothers and tackle fundamental questions about motherhood, identity and nature vs nurture.
Muswell Press directors Sarah and Kate Beal said: "Donna has an amazing story to tell and we are delighted to be publishing this rich, compelling memoir, shocking, life-enhancing and ultimately very moving."
Freed, a Radio Gorgeous presenter, commented: "I am thrilled to be working with Sarah, Kate and the team at Muswell Press. They are the perfect home to bring a story that is so close to my heart to a wider audience."
There Are Things We Do Not Say will be published in 2022.
