Nadiya Hussain is releasing a tie-in cookery book with Michael Joseph for her new primetime eight-part BBC2 cookery series of the same name, Nadiya’s British Food Adventure.
Michael Joseph will publish the book on 13th July 2017, priced £20 in hardback. World rights were bought by Ione Walder, Michael Joseph cookery commissioning editor, from Anne Kibel at AK Artist Management.
Hussain, the winner of 2015’s Great British Bake Off, last year published her debut cookbook with Michael Joseph, a children’s book of stories and recipes with Hodder Children’s Books (HCB), and signed with Harlequin to write three contemporary women’s fiction novels.
In her new TV series and book, she is tasked with transforming familiar British dishes into fresh and enticing recipes inspired by her adventures visiting local food heroes and producers up and down the country.
The book will include over 100 recipes, with "easy new twists on old favourites", such as: Masala Eggy Bread, Chilli Bean and Banger Stew, Jerk Haddock with Jollof Rice, Sesame Chicken and Quick Kimchi, Rosemary Banoffee Pie and Eton Mess Cheesecake.
Hussain said: "Our country’s regional cuisine is much more than tried-and-tested traditional dishes – there are quirky and clever food producers out there who are reinventing British food in unique and exciting ways. I can't wait to meet these local food heroes, to find inspiration in the most unusual food stories and unlikely ingredients and then come up with some brand new recipes in the kitchen, adding my own special twist."
Walder said: "Who could forget when Nadiya emerged victorious from the Bake Off tent and declared ‘I can and I will!’. It’s fast become clear that Nadiya really meant that, and with her new cookbook and TV series she’s about to help her fans discover that they can, too. Her encouraging recipes and clever ways with flavour make cooking feel easier and more exciting than ever."
