Hachette Children’s Group is publishing a second cookbook and storybook compilation by "Great British Bake Off" winner and author Nadiya Hussain, Nadiya's Bake Me a Festive Story, this October.
The book, publishing on the Hodder Children’s Books imprint, follows on from Hussain's 2016 cookery book Nadiya's Bake Me a Story, which became a finalist for the Children’s Book of the Year category of the British Book Industry Awards. In total, across all her books, she has sold 75,395 copies for £774,282, with Nadiya’s Kitchen (Michael Joseph) her bestseller at 38,927 copies sold.
Nadiya's Bake Me a Festive Story is publishing on 5th October 2017. It will contain 30 recipes, "perfect for the Christmas season", alongside stories from Hussain. Clair Rossiter will illustrate the book again and photography of Hussain and her three children will also feature.
World rights were acquired by Anne McNeil, senior publisher, Hodder Children’s Books, from Anne Kibel at AK Artist Management.
Anne McNeil, senior publisher, Hodder Children’s Books, said: "We are thrilled to be continuing our hugely successful partnership with Nadiya Hussain with the publication of Nadiya's Bake Me a Festive Story this Christmas. The Bake Me a Story concept was inspired by Nadiya’s children, who love reading as much as their mum loves cooking, and gave her the idea by asking, 'Why can’t we cook and read at the same time?' The unique mix of delicious recipes and scrumptious stories, all devised and written by Nadiya herself, is designed to bring families into the kitchen to spend time together getting messy, having fun and reading stories.
"It’s a concept retailers and consumers alike have embraced; Nadiya's Bake Me a Story was a top ten bestselling title in 2016 and is a Children’s Book of the Year shortlisted title. Nadiya’s star is set to rise even higher in 2017 with two new television series. With her sparkling personality, I’m not at all surprised at her Breakthrough Award shortlisting. That same personality shines through the pages of the incredibly creative Bake Me a Story format."
Hussain commented: "I had so much fun working with the team at Hodder Children’s Books publishing Nadiya's Bake Me a Story that I jumped at the chance to do a second book. Festive occasions in all religions are a time for families to come together and for me food and storytelling always play a central part. The book will contain a variety of deliciously indulgent recipes, perfect for enjoying at times of celebration, all with the Nadiya twist."
