Welbeck has netted the first book by sea shanties sensation Nathan Evans, TikTok star and singer of number one hit “Wellerman”.
The Book of Sea Shanties will see Evans present more than 35 of his favourite songs, each accompanied by an explanation of the meaning behind them and how they have shaped and inspired him. It will also include extra special content and original shanties written exclusively for the book, alongside illustrations.
Editorial director Ajda Vucicevic bought world rights to The Book of Sea Shanties: Wellerman and Other Songs from the Seven Seas from Professor Jonathan Shalit, chairman of the InterTalent Group. It is scheduled for publication on 14th October 2021 in hardback.
Evans is a Glaswegian postman turned troubadour of sea shanties, whose version of the traditional sea shanty "Wellerman" went viral on TikTok and gained more than 17 million views. Following its 2021 release, “Wellerman” has amassed over half a billion streams and 1.5 million global sales. His multiple platinum-selling album has reached number one in 10 countries, including the UK.
He said: “I am so excited to be able to put my love for sea shanties and music in a book and to share them with you all.”
