Netflix has commissioned a TV adaptation of Beth Reekles’ YA novel The Kissing Booth (Penguin Random House), according to Deadline.
Komixx Media is producing the drama and Vince Marcello has signed up to direct and write the screenplay.
Reekles, who grew up in Wales, wrote the book when she was only 15 and posted it on story sharing website Wattpad. It picked up thousands of viewings and caught the attention of Random House Children’s Publishers, now part of Penguin Random House, which acquired the publishing rights in 2012.
Reekles has written several other YA novels, including Rolling Dice, Out of Tune (Random House) and Cwtch Me If You Can (Accent Press).
