Netflix has acquired film rights to all 15 titles in Andy McDermott's Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase series.
The series, which is published by Headline, starts with The Hunt for Atlantis. Years after the disappearance of her parents, a brilliant young archaeologist, Nina Wilde, teams up with a cavalier ex-SAS British bodyguard, Eddie Chase, when a tech-billionaire sends them on a globe-trotting race to discover the legendary lost city.
Divine Rights Media of Brooklyn optioned the rights to the series last year and in a further deal negotiated by agent Robin Wade of Wade & Co it has now secured Netflix’s interest in developing the film franchise, beginning with The Hunt for Atlantis.
Matt Reeves, director of "The Batman", is producing, alongside scriptwriter Aaron Berg.
To date McDermott has sold 557,896 books for £2.9m, with the bestseller in the series Hunt for Atlantis, at 92,826 copies sold, according to Nielsen Bookscan.
