Independent publisher New River has scooped The Happiest Diet in the World: How to Eat Like the Healthiest People in the World by Giulia Crouch and Perris, California by Rachel Stark.
Founders Aurea Carpenter and Rebecca Nicolson acquired world rights directly from Crouch for The Happiest Diet in the World for publication on 25th April with an "extensive" PR and marketing campaign.
In The Happiest Diet in the World, Crouch examines "blue zones... where people live much longer, healthier and happier lives" and provides "fascinating insights into everything from fasting to meat eating, sugar to wine-drinking, gut health and the incredible power of beans". It will also detail 50 nutritious recipes.
World rights for Perris, California were acquired by Carpenter and Nicolson from Stephanie Cabot at Susanna Lea. The novel will mark the second fiction title published by the indie, with release scheduled for 28th September 2024.
The synopsis reads: "Abandoned first by her father and then her mother, Tessa is left to live with her abusive stepfather and stepbrother. She survives by finding reserves of strength in herself, and by the surprising, transformative love of another teenage girl, Mel, who sees through Tessa’s tough exterior to the vulnerable woman inside. Years on, Tessa re-encounters the woman she used to love – leading her to question the very foundations of the life she’s built."
