Comedian, actress and author Susan Calman is to publish a new book entitled The Kindness Quest with Two Roads.
Lisa Highton, publisher of Two Roads, acquired world rights to title from Vivienne Clore at Vivienne Clore Artists Management.
After writing Cheer up Love: Adventures in Depression with the Crab of Hate (Two Roads), a detailed memoir of her battle with depression, Calman is "on a mission to find the positives in life". Travelling around the country on tour she will visit towns and cities across the land trying to find what makes people happy, and more importantly, if she can in some way influence how the people of the UK behave.
Calman said: “After writing a very personal account of my life with depression it seemed a logical step to write about the mirror image of that. Positivity, empathy and above all kindness. As I’m about to embark on a nationwide tour it’s the perfect time to see what the state of the nation is, and if I can do anything to make things better. I’m going to try to get kindness back on the agenda and find out if this Scottish, feminist, lesbian, Remainer can turn round the negativity and anger. If nothing else it’s going to be a bumpy ride. I can’t wait to work with Lisa and the team again on this exciting new project.”
Highton said: “Small acts of kindness are a very good way to reach across the divide and I can think of no one better to reach out than Susan.”
Glasgow-born ex-lawyer Calman is a stand-up comedian, actor and writer.
The Kindness Quest will be published in May 2018 in hardback, audio and e-book.
