Nexus has snapped up Korean rights to three Bradt Guides, with the overhauled fourth edition of Bradt's North Korea guide now set to be published in South Korea for the first time.
Bradt Travel Guides will publish North Korea: The Bradt Travel Guide, 4th edition by Henry Marr on 31st December 2019. Bradt Guides said following “keen interest from three Korean publishers”, worldwide Korean language rights in print and e-book were sold to Nexus Publishing. Nexus will publish its edition of the North Korea guide in 2020. Nexus has also bought rights to two further Bradt guides, titles to be confirmed.
Henry Marr, author of the new guide, said: “North Korea, for now, remains the last nation of its kind left standing – the last hard-line communist domino that didn’t fall, standing resolute, decades after its comrades fell, one by one. But the foundations may be cracking and the socialist dream may soon be over, as the country ever so slowly wakes up to the possibility of embracing capitalism and all it entails. If the recent détente continues on its current trajectory, in just a few short years North Korea could well be a far wealthier, yet considerably less interesting destination for intrepid travellers.”
Hilary Bradt MBE, founder of Bradt Guides, described a 2016 trip to North Korea as "perhaps the most memorable trip I’ve ever taken".
