Northodox Press has landed Emma Morgan’s "exhilarating" romance novel Beggars Would Ride.
Publisher James Keane acquired world English language rights from Andrew James at the Frog Literary Agency for publication on 11th April 2025.
“I fell in love with Emma’s writing on submission and I’m delighted her Liverpudlian lesbian romance has found a home with a brilliant northern publisher who is as passionate about diverse representation in publishing as Frog Literary Agency," said James.
Morgan’s second novel follows Natalie Shaw, a Liverpudlian drug dealer, who meets Gwen Robertson, a primary school teacher, at an open mic night.
The publisher added: "Their connection is instant and though they go home together, Gwen does a runner before the night is over. What follows is a romance that shouldn’t work but does."
Morgan commented: "I am delighted that a book set in Liverpool will be brought out by an independent publisher based in the north of England. Place is such a big part of this book that it seems entirely appropriate. Their commitment to diverse voices is something that is very important to me and so I feel like this book has found just the right home.”
