Nosy Crow has announced a multi-year deal for Unicorn Academy, covering a wide range of formats to be published in the next decade.
Kate Wilson, group c.e.o. of Nosy Crow, worked with Katie Woolley, Nosy Crow’s head of brands and licensing, to buy publishing rights for children’s books in all languages, excluding German, from Spin Master Entertainment. Nosy Crow’s first TV tie-in novelisation, Sophia’s Invitation, was published in October, in time for the global launch on Netflix on 2nd November.
The series is adapted from books originated and published by Nosy Crow, written by Julie Sykes and Linda Chapman and published in North America by Penguin Random House.
Wilson said: “This major acquisition is the start of an extraordinary adventure for Nosy Crow, and we are delighted to be on this journey with our colleagues at Spin Master Entertainment. We are proud that our stand-out chapter-book series has been magically transformed into an animated series, brought to screens with such integrity and quality by the team at Spin Master Entertainment.
"Nosy Crow’s commitment to Unicorn Academy is set to deliver an ambitious publishing programme that will have a little touch of sparkle for every reader.”
Woolley added: “The original Unicorn Academy chapter books have been enormously successful for Nosy Crow and many of our international publishing partners, so we are very happy to be able to add to their success with a TV tie-in publishing programme that will appeal to children all around the world, bringing the magic of the animated series into exciting new formats that will push the boundaries of licensed publishing.”
