Nosy Crow has acquired three titles "sprinkled with warmth and humour" from début author Kristina Rahim, launching with The Doughnut Club in May 2025, which won the PFD Queer Fiction Prize 2023.
Zöe Griffiths, editorial director for fiction, bought world rights in the three books—the latter two of which are as-yet untitled—from Silvia Molteni at PFD.
Described as perfect for fans of Sarah Hagger-Holt and Benjamin Dean, The Doughnut Club follows donor-conceived Quinn and is "a fresh take on family and what it means to fit in... Hugely commercial and filled with heart, The Doughnut Club is for every reader who needs help being true to themselves," the publisher says.
Rahim said: "The Doughnut Club is a story about life, family and being true to yourself and is one I hope every child can relate to, regardless of how they came into the world. For donor-conceived kids there can be a lot of questions about their family. By bringing more stories to the bookshelves involving donor families, we can demystify the topic and help donor kids feel seen and better understood. Nosy Crow is a publisher I have long admired. I knew from the first meeting with Zöe and the team it was the right home for this story, and I can’t wait to see it out in the world."
Griffiths said: "I was utterly captivated by Quinn’s voice and Kristina’s writing. The Doughnut Club is accessible and commercial and the kind of book that opens doors for readers without making issues heavy. It’s exactly the kind of book we love to publish at Nosy Crow."
Molteni added: "I’m especially thrilled that The Doughnut Club and Kristina found the perfect home with Zöe and the team at Nosy Crow. I’m so looking forward to seeing them champion this important and gorgeous book and introduce it to as many young readers as possible."
