Hamlyn, part of Octopus Publishing Group, has acquired the official book of ITV2’s "Love Island" following a "hotly contested" auction.
Love Island – On Paper: The Official Love Island Guide to Grafting, Cracking on and Mugging off will be published in hardback on 16th November 2017, priced £16.99, as "an irreverent guide to modern love from the TV sensation that everyone's talking about".
The book will feature "the funniest" quotes and conversations from the show, as well as "most embarrassing" moments.
Features in the book will meanwhile include "how to tell if you’re being a ‘melt’; a Bruv’s guide to serious conversations; how to work out which islander’s basket you should put all your eggs into; Dr Marcel’s guide to coping with heartbreak; and a crash course in being classy from Camilla".
The book will also include a glossary explaining the terms "pied off", "dick sand" and "muggy".
Trevor Davies, publishing director at Octopus Publishing Group, acquired World English language rights from Shirley Patton, head of publishing at ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
The acquisition follows hot on the heels of Blink Publishing's lightning-quick deal to publish Dr Marcel's Little Book of Big Love next month.
Davies said of the acquisition: "Octopus is thrilled to be publishing the official Love Island book under the Hamlyn imprint. The show is the TV sensation of the summer with viewers from MPs to pop stars revelling in its unapologetically sunny outlook and gripped by the Islanders' relationships. The book will delight fans of the show, who will be desperate to spend a little extra time with the contestants."
Patton added: “We’re delighted to be working with Octopus on this brilliant extension of the record-breaking ITV2 show. Fans will relish the chance to relive the summer magic and revel in the contestants’ top grafting tips.”
