One More Chapter has fallen for rom-com The Fallback by début Eleanor Goymer.
Publisher Charlotte Ledger acquired world all language rights from Becky Thomas at Lewinsohn Literary in a two-book deal, with The Fallback due to publish in spring 2024 as a global rights priority for the division.
The Fallback follows Rosie, who has secretly been in love with her best friend Mitch for more than a decade. So when Mitch offers Rosie a bargain that could get her what she wants, Rosie would be a fool to say no.
Either they find their soulmates by Christmas, or they become each other’s fallbacks. Either way Rosie wins: she finds someone that will finally get her over Mitch, or she gets Mitch. What she didn’t bargain for was Mitch falling for someone else…
Goymer was previously rights director at HarperCollins UK and then relocated to the US where she now lives and works. She said: “I have so much admiration for Charlotte and the rest of the team and I am thrilled to be published by HarperCollins/One More Chapter; I feel as if I’m coming home.”
Thomas said: “It’s been such a delight to find Eleanor is just as good an author as she was an industry colleague. Her instincts for writing a brilliantly hooky, funny and relatable romcom are spot on, and I’m so excited for readers to discover the same. Eleanor being published by One More Chapter couldn’t be more perfect!”
Ledger added: “Rosie is a character after my own heart – except I certainly don’t have a best friend as gorgeous and lovely as Mitch! It made me laugh, it made my heart flutter, it was exactly what I, and readers all over the world, want to read right now. Eleanor being the author is just the icing on the loveliest cake and I can’t wait for everyone to know her as the talented author she is.”
