Pan Macmillan's sustainability imprint One Boat has signed Green Living Made Easy, a second book from author Nancy Birtwhistle.
Hockley Raven Spare, commissioning editor at Bluebird and One Boat, acquired world rights from Anna Bruce at Yellow Poppy Media. It will be published in hardback on 3rd March 2022.
The deal comes after Birtwhistle’s debut, Clean & Green, was published by One Boat in January. A retired NHS GP practice manager, Birtwhistle first became known for winning “The Great British Bake Off” in 2014. Motivated by protecting the planet for her 10 grandchildren, she decided to change how she used plastic, single-use products and chemicals in her home and has attracted legions of fans on social media – including Gigi Hadid, Kat Dennings and Jonathan Van Ness – for her eco-friendly cleaning tips, delicious recipes and time-saving swaps.
One Boat said of the new book: “Featuring 101 indispensable tips, ideas and recipes, Green Living Made Easy will inspire readers to lead a more sustainable and eco-friendly life while also saving time and money. From eco-cleaning, cooking, baking and making the most out of the weekly shop to small-space gardening and creative crafts, Birtwhistle’s innovative ideas and swaps give everyday household chores an eco-makeover without giving up on any home comforts.”
Raven Spare said: “We’ve been bowled over by Nancy’s truly genius ideas and I’m delighted to be working with her again on a book that brings so many of these tips, swaps and recipes together. This hopeful book shows how easy it is to make a meaningful difference and will help us all to make better choices that reduce our environmental impact.”
Birtwhistle commented: “Over the past few years I have continued to document every step of my Green Living journey. In this bumper book you’ll discover new and smart ways of working that will result in you saving time, money, energy and, most importantly, our precious planet. I’ve included amongst many things – no fail recipes, upcycling ideas and tips for daily living.”
She added: “Please join me on what I consider has become our duty. Together I believe we can do this.”
