One More Chapter has swooped for a "sizzling" vampire romance duology from Helen Glynn Jones.
Publisher Charlotte Ledger acquired world all-language rights from Laura Bennett at Liverpool Literary Agency. The Last Raven, the first book in the deal, is scheduled for publication in September 2024 with the sequel to follow in 2025.
Billed as Twilight meets "True Blood", The Last Raven is set in a world ruled by vampires where Emelia, the sole heir to the House of Raven, is offered a chance to escape her life.
The synopsis continues: "As rebellion and dark forces swirl around her, Emelia has a choice to make – leave everyone she loves behind, or stay and accept her destiny."
"I’ve always been a sucker (pun intended) for a great vampire story, and The Last Raven absolutely hit the mark for me – I read it in a day after Helen sent it over", said Bennett. "Finding a publishing team whose enthusiasm matched mine wasn’t going to be an easy feat, and I am so delighted that everyone at One More Chapter fell for it as hard as I did."
Jones said: "I can’t imagine a better team to work with, and I’m so thrilled with their vision for both my romance novels and The Raven books, including the gorgeous cover art for The Last Raven by illustrator Stephanie Gautreaux. I know my work is in very safe hands."
Ledger added: "This year it’s all been about dragons but I am firmly in the camp that vampires never went away and I’ve been looking for something to fill the vamp-shaped hole in my life. Helen’s novel, set in a unique dystopian world where vampires rule and humans are bred for food, gave me everything I wanted from a fantasy romance – sizzling passion, breakneck pace and a shock twist you won’t see coming. I’m so excited to introduce readers around the world to The Ravens."
