One More Chapter has scooped a new book in Debbie Johnson’s The Comfort Food Café series, following a five-year hiatus.
Publisher Charlotte Ledger acquired world English language rights from Hayley Steed, formerly at Madeleine Milburn Agency. The Comfort Food Café, the seventh novel in the series, will be published later this year.
Billed as an "uplifting and escapist" story set in the fictional town of Budbury, Dorset, the next instalment in The Comfort Food Café series follows Maxine Connolly after she is made redundant from her job.
The blurb continues: "[Maxine] has nothing but time on her hands, her 18-year-old daughter Sophie has other plans and applies for a role on her behalf to work in the busy clifftop café overlooking the beach. Maxine may have accepted the position as a means of getting back on her feet, but the Comfort Food Café soon becomes so much more – a home away from home, a place that offers friendship as a daily special and where a hearty welcome is always on the menu."
Johnson said: "I’m very happy to be returning to the Comfort Food Café – writing this book felt like coming home. I can’t wait for readers old and new to join us on this brand new adventure, and am so excited to be working again with Charlotte Ledger and the team at One More Chapter."
Ledger added: "Launching Debbie’s rom-com career with her debut Cold Feet at Christmas, which shot straight into the Kindle top 10 in 2014, is undoubtedly one of the highlights of my career, as is working with someone I consider a friend as well as an author. The success of the series in both print and e-book is a testament to Debbie’s talent for writing exactly what her readers want. Readers everywhere have found a home among the community at The Comfort Food Café – it’s a place where everyone is accepted and where everyone can find friendship and love. Debbie is back and better than ever!"
