One More Chapter has secured a two-book deal with B P Walter.
Jennie Rothwell, senior commissioning editor, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights for the as-yet-untitled "blockbuster" thrillers from Joanna Swainson at Hardman & Swainson. The first title will be published in summer 2023.
"It’s been an absolute joy to watch One More Chapter grow B P Walter’s readership, right up to him being a Sunday Times top 10 bestseller," said Swainson. "I couldn’t be happier that they’ll be continuing to publish his compelling novels with their unique brand of enthusiasm and agility."
Walter’s The Dinner Guest (HarperCollins), published in 2021, has secured the author "legions of fans" according to the publisher. The book is currently a Times+ e-book thriller of the month and was shortlisted for the Polari Prize. The Locked Attic is Walter’s latest title scheduled for publication on 24th November 2022.
The untitled new novel follows Nathanial, a young man who becomes involved with Eleanor during his final year at university in 1986. When spending the summer with her family, Nathanial becomes involved in the mystery of Eleanor’s brother’s disappearance. The publisher added: "Desperate to get to the truth, Nathanial must work out who to trust and who holds the power between life and death..."
Rothwell commented: “I am incredibly lucky to be working with Barnaby on his new books. His plotting and characterisation is taut and suspenseful, and I know readers will love his new thriller. It’s been an honour to work with Barnaby, and I’m really looking forward to continuing to build his brand.”
Walter said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be recontracting with One More Chapter for another two books. I’m overjoyed with the levels of enthusiasm, dedication and creativity the amazing teams at OMC and HarperCollins have shown with The Dinner Guest, The Woman on the Pier and The Locked Attic, and I’m so excited for what’s to come. I’m very much looking forward to working with Jennie Rothwell and the rest of the brilliant team on my upcoming novel.”
