One More Chapter has snapped up an "enchanting" romcom from Pernille Hughes.
Charlotte Ledger, publishing director, acquired world all language rights toTen Years direct from the author. German rights have already been signed by DTV at auction. The book is scheduled for August 2022.
Ten Years tells the story of two people, Charlie and Becca, who met at university and can’t stand each other. But now they are forced to come together to complete the bucket list of a loved one who has recently died. With challenges such as climbing Snowdon and cycling from London to Brighton on a tandem, the book charts the couple’s highs and lows over 10 years as they navigate grief, love and life after their friend Ally.
Ledger said: "For years I’ve heard friends say they want to read the next One Day (Hodder) or recapture that feeling of the will they/won’t they relationship of Sally Thorne’s The Hating Game (Piatkus) and as soon as I read the first few chapters of this book I knew I had found exactly that. This is the book all us romcom fans have been waiting for and I am so proud to publish Pernille. This is going to be a big book for us in all formats and territories."
Hughes added: "It’s such a joy to write another book for One More Chapter. Working with Charlotte for my first two books was the smoothest of starts and it was an absolute pleasure to collaborate again on Ten Years. She embraced Becca and Charlie right from the start. Having DTV on board for a German edition is a dream come true and I honestly couldn’t be more excited."
