Oneworld has acquired A History of the World in 21 Women: A Personal Selection by journalist and broadcaster Jenni Murray, a sequel to A History of Britain in 21 Women (Oneworld).
Sam Carter, editorial director non-fiction at Oneworld, acquired World English rights from Barbara Levy at the Barbara Levy Literary Agency.
Encompassing artists, writers, activists and politicians from past and present, A History of the World in 21 Women will be a "lively, accessible and enlightening" history, celebrating the contributions of women to the world in which we live.
Murray said: "I’m delighted to be working with Oneworld again – an independent publishing house that takes great care of its authors. And most appropriately named for this next project – the World!"
Carter said: "I couldn’t be happier to be working again with the peerless Jenni Murray, and we’re looking forward to another critical and commercial hit."
Murray is a journalist and broadcaster who has presented BBC Radio 4’s "Woman’s Hour" since 1987. She is the author of several books, including A History of Britain in 21 Women (Oneworld) and Memoirs of a Not So Dutiful Daughter (Black Swan).
Oneworld will publish in September 2018.
