Hillary Clinton's Goldman Sachs speeches to be published by OR Books

New York-based OR Books is publishing a collection of Hillary Clinton’s speeches, released by Wikileaks last month, despite not having permission from the presidential candidate.

Hillary Clinton: The Goldman Sachs Speeches, published in January next year (p/b £13, e-book £8), will feature the speeches Clinton made to Goldman Sachs after stepping down from her role of Secretary of State. Julian Assange, head of Wikileaks, will pen the introduction.

In the introduction, Assange writes: “Hillary Clinton made significant money from delivering these three speeches to Goldman Sachs immediately after stepping down from her role as Secretary of State. Now we can all profit from learning what the likely future president says behind closed doors.”

OR Books co-publisher Colin Robinson told digital news site The Wrap it could print the Democratic candidate’s speeches in full under the legal doctrine of “fair use,” which allows the publication of copyrighted material for a limited or “transformative” purpose.

Robinson said he wasn’t planning to pay Clinton for her work because “she already got paid for those”.

OR Books describes itself as a “progressive publisher” and previously released a book based on the conversations between Assange and Google chairman Eric Schmidt.
