Orion Fiction has signed two new books by Lorraine Brown. Charlotte Mursell, publishing director, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to the titles from Hannah Ferguson at Hardman & Swainson, with editorial director Rhea Kurien publishing.
Brown’s first book, The Paris Connection, was published by Orion in February 2021, with Sorry I Missed You following in September this year. The first book in the new contract, Five Days in Florence, will be published in paperback, e-book and audio on 20th July 2023.
The synopsis reads: “After a proposal in Paris, a woman travels to Florence with her fiancé to meet his family. But when she runs into the one that got away, what should have been a simple trip becomes a recipe for disaster."
Kurien said: “I’ve loved Lorraine’s writing since The Paris Connection and she just gets better with every book. Her characters are so warm, funny and relatable, pulling you quickly into the most satisfying of rom-coms. Five Days in Florence brings the sights, tastes and sounds of Italy to rich life, and it has the perfect setup: a fiancé, an old flame and five days in Florence. What could go wrong?”
Brown commented: “I’m over the moon to be working on two more books with Orion Fiction, and feel very lucky to have such an amazing team behind me—they really understand my writing and always support me in making my books the very best they can be.”
Ferguson said working with Brown is “an absolute joy” and that “since her debut she has established herself as an author to watch". She added: “Five Days in Florence does not disappoint.”
