Orion Fiction has signed the “unbelievably powerful” new novel by US author Sarah Jio, alongside eight of her previous books.
Victoria Oundjian, commissioning editor, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to All the Flowers in Paris and the previous novels from Jenny Meyer at the Jenny Meyer Literary Agency. The new book will be published in trade paperback and e-book in August with paperback and audio following in October.
All the Flowers in Paris tells the tale of Caroline Williams who wakes up in a Paris hospital bed with no memory of her past. Its synopsis explains: “As she struggles to return to her old life, she is haunted by dreams of palm trees, a little girl and a man who seemed to adore her – but Caroline is all alone. Distracting herself from her mysterious past she uncovers a bundle of world war two love letters written by a young mother named Celine stashed away in her apartments second bedroom. Can discovering the truth about Celine help Caroline understand her past?”
Oundjian said: “I have loved Sarah Jio’s stories for many years and am so excited to bring her fantastic storytelling to UK readers for the first time. From the moment I started All the Flowers in Paris I was swept away by this unbelievably powerful emotional story. Spectacularly weaving together past and present, Jio has written a novel about the resilience of the human spirit, the power of a mother’s love and the many complex layers of the heart – especially its capacity to forgive.”
Jio added: “I am absolutely thrilled to be working with Orion as my publishing partner in the UK. Since I wrote my first novel, more than twelve years ago now, it has been a dream of mine to be published across the pond, and now that it’s happening, with such a fantastic, big-hearted, and smart publishing group, I couldn’t be happier. I can’t wait for my books to find their way into the hands of readers from London to Edinburgh.”
