Orion Fiction has bought a self-published TikTok romance hit set in a rehabilitation centre by K M Moronova.
Rhea Kurien, editorial director, acquired world all-language rights to The Fabric of Our Souls directly from the author. North American rights have since been sold to Junessa Viloria at Forever.
Aimed at fans of Laura Nowlin and Kathleen Glasgow, the novel is “an emotional romantic thriller about two troubled souls", Orion Fiction said. “He craves life. She craves death. Will love be enough to save them?”
The novel was self-published in November 2023 and has already garnered nearly 10,000 reviews on Goodreads and attention on TikTok. Orion and Forever will be publishing their editions, with a new cover, later this year.
Moronova lives in Montana and is the author of two dark fantasy series, Pine Hollow and Alkrose Academy (also self-published). The Fabric of Our Souls is her first dark romance standalone.
Kurien said: “I didn’t just read this novel, I was consumed by it. I was drawn in by the heart-rending love story and fell for the authentic and nuanced mental health representation. What I didn’t expect were the twists and turns of the storyline, the cracking pace, or the electrifying spice.
“The Fabric of Our Souls is both wholly original and captivating, and all of us at Orion are obsessed. It’s no surprise this book has already found so many fans around the world and I’m so excited to introduce many more readers to Liam, Wynn and Lanston.”
Moronova said: ‘’I am incredibly happy that The Fabric of Our Souls has found its home with Orion Fiction, and I’m especially honoured to work with Rhea Kurien, whose warmth and passion drive deep into the heart and message of my novel. It’s an absolute dream come true to work with Orion on bringing this heart-wrenching story to readers everywhere in need of feeling seen.”
