Orion has acquired two mysteries by Holly Seddon with the first, Shelter, to publish as a lead title in summer 2023.
Editor Sam Eades acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Sophie Lambert at C&W.
Shelter tells the story of three sisters with “an unspeakable family secret” who find themselves in an isolated mansion, and has been hailed by Eades as “masterful”.
Eades said: “I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough to find out the dark, throbbing secret hidden in the depths of Moirthwaite Manor — the deeper we sink, the deeper we want to go. But Shelter is so much more than a thriller, it is a character-driven narrative with four incredible women at its heart as well as a chilling story about the power of fear. Shelter is masterful storytelling, and I cannot wait to publish it.”
Seddon commented: “I am delighted to be working with Sam Eades and the Orion Fiction team on the publication of Shelter. The team’s creative vision and support has encouraged me to take bigger and bolder swings, and Shelter is my most ambitious novel yet. And it’s my most unsettling. I have to admit to scaring myself several times while writing this, and I can’t wait to see what readers think.”
Previous books by Seddon include Try Not To Breathe, Don’t Close Your Eyes and Love Will Tear Us Apart, all published by Corvus.
