Orion Spring has signed Romanticise Your Life by journalist and writer Beth McColl, scheduled for publication on 1st February 2024.
Carina Bryan, editorial assistant, bought world rights directly from the author in her first deal. Romanticise Your Life is described as “a must-have how-to guide on finding joy in the everyday". It was inspired by the viral social media trend which encourages “watchers” to find romance in all aspects of their life.
McColl is a London-based freelance writer, advice columnist, author, podcaster and public speaker who has created written and audio content about mental health, sex, dating, travel and popular culture. She’s written for Dazed Digital, ELLE, Vice, Metro, Refinery29 and Glamour.
McColl said: “Containing both practical advice and stories from my own journey, I hope this book can act as a guide for anyone who wants to live a more romantic life, a life where no apologies are made for that. It’s not a list of rules or a test that can be passed or failed, but rather a nudge in a direction that I remain incredibly grateful that I decided to take.
“Romanticising your life means making good on the little but lovely dreams and impulses that can be so easy to suppress or ignore. It’s an invitation towards pleasure and appreciation, and braveries big and small.”
Bryan said: “I have been following Beth on Twitter for years and then first heard her speak about loneliness on ’Woman’s Hour’. She has such an inspiring way of talking about self-love and appreciating the little moments in life, and this book is the perfect example of the beautiful way in which she views the world, inviting reader’s to look at the world in the same way. From solo travelling to buying yourself flowers and taking yourself for dinner, Romanticise Your Life is a toolkit to fully embrace finding beauty and excitement in the everyday.”
