Orion Spring has scooped New Happy: Getting Happiness Right in a World That’s Got It Wrong by Stephanie Harrison, a wellbeing expert and founder of The New Happy platform.
Editorial director Jessica Duffy acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Jillian Fata at TarcherPerigree. The book will be published on 16th May 2024.
New Happy is a "unique, inspiring blend of art and science" to show how "true happiness comes from being who you really are". Harrison combines the text with her "beloved artwork" to illuminate the book’s key concepts.
Harrison founded The New Happy platform in 2018 which shares artwork, podcasts, articles and interactive tools to share her science-backed philosophy of happiness. Harrison commented: "Everyone wants to be happy, but right now, we are operating with a completely incorrect understanding of happiness—and it’s making us miserable. I wrote this book because, after 10 years of research, I know that there is a better way. It’s possible for all of us to find happiness and make the world a happier place at the same time."
Duffy added: "As soon as I came across Stephanie’s powerful and ever-expanding platform The New Happy I was hooked. Never before have I seen wellbeing concepts illustrated with such beauty and simplicity. Over and again, I find myself pondering both the brilliant artwork and Stephanie’s fantastic newsletter long after I finished reading and I know that the same will be true for readers around the world after finishing this book. New Happy reminds me that we are stronger together and I hope readers will put the book down feeling ready to seek more connection, joy and genuine fulfilment."
