Orion Spring has signed Your Pocket Therapist by London-based psychotherapist and TikTok sensation Annie Zimmerman in an exclusive pre-empt.
Editorial director Jessica Duffy bought UK and Commonwealth rights to Your Pocket Therapist for Orion Spring from Matilda Forbes Watson at WME.
Duffy and Forbes Watson had both approached Zimmerman to write a book which led to an exclusive deal being done between WME and Orion Spring in August. The book is slated to publish on 11th January 2024.
Zimmerman, who has a thriving private practice based in east London and a PhD in psychology, decided to start sharing her therapeutic insights on her TikTok account at the end of last year. Since then she has amassed a following of more than 400,000 across platforms and her videos are regularly viewed by millions of people.
Orion Spring explained: “In her first book, Annie plans to bring her trademark warmth, accessibility and rich insight to the page in order to help readers better understand their thoughts, behaviours and feelings, and heal past trauma, improve their relationships, understand their mental health and unpick unhelpful patterns. With chapters on the self, relationships, work and body, Annie will cover all the topics that her audience regularly and enthusiastically ask her about."
Zimmerman said: “I’m so thrilled to have the opportunity to create this book to help people to understand themselves better and improve their mental health and relationships. It’s a dream to work with Orion Spring to publish this book that I hope will make a difference for a lot of people.”
Duffy added: “When I first met Annie for coffee in June, having followed her on TikTok for months, I was instantly sure that she would write the most supportive, insightful and game changing book.
“I am so pleased to be working with Annie now, and the team at WME, to distil all of her wisdom into a toolkit that will not only satisfy her audience’s huge appetite for her content, but also reach readers far and wide who want to break free from past patterns and embrace a life of self-awareness, connection and freedom."
