Otter-Barry bags sequel to Matt Goodfellow's 'extraordinary' début

Otter-Barry books has bagged The First Year, the sequel to the in-verse novel The Final Year, from Matt Goodfellow and illustrated by Joe Todd-Stanton. 

Janetta Otter-Barry, founder and publisher, acquired world rights from directly from the author. Goodfellow is now represented by Philippa Perry at SP Agency. 

The First Year continues the story of protagonist Nate as he starts secondary school. 

Otter-Barry commented: "We are thrilled to be working with Matt Goodfellow again, following the success of his extraordinary and moving The Final Year. We have been overwhelmed by all the incredible reviews and awards over the last year, culminating in the CLiPPA Award this month."

The First Year will be published in April 2025.
