Pan Macmillan has signed up the Accidental Medium series by author, screenwriter and actor Tracy Whitwell.
Wayne Brookes, associate publisher, acquired world rights to Accidental Medium and two other books in the series directly from the author. The first book will be published in hardback on 26th May 2022 and in paperback on 21st July 2022.
The blurb explains: “Meet Tanz, a struggling Geordie actor, living in London, turned accidental psychic. To make ends meet, Tanz gets a job in a new-age shop while she waits for the next big acting job. There she finds she has more in common with the customers than she imagined. Voices in her head become ghosts who just won’t leave, and when they start giving her clues to an unsolved murder, things really start to get sticky…”
Whitwell's acting career has seen her appear in shows such as “Playing the Field”, “EastEnders”, “Peep Show” and “Casualty”. She has also been writing professionally for stage and screen for 17 years.
She said: “After working hard as a writer for years and after many false starts, signing with the mighty Pan Macmillan has made me ridiculously happy. It is a special publisher and my new editor is a diamond. I'm over the moon. Roll on 2022, the Accidental Medium is on her way.”
Brookes said: “Tracy was pitched to me by one of my other authors who was already a big fan of this series which had been self-published on Kindle with the first book also having a limited run with Accent Press. I read the first book and was hooked. I contacted the author direct and asked to see what she had next and then did the deal direct with her. I knew from first contact with Tracy that I had been introduced to a very special author. I am so excited to have found these hilarious and yet fabulously creepy novels by the story-telling powerhouse that is Tracy Whitwell. Readers are going to adore our Accidental Medium and Tracy’s boundless charm and energy is going to make my life so much more enjoyable.”
