Pan Macmillan has landed a “beautiful” new book from Amanda Owen, star of Channel 5 show “Our Yorkshire Farm”.
Publishing director Ingrid Connell acquired world English-language rights from Jo Cantello at Wolfsong Media. Pan Mac will publish Celebrating the Seasons with the Yorkshire Shepherdess on 28th October 2021 alongside an “unmissable” PR campaign and nationwide theatre tour.
The publisher said: “In Celebrating the Seasons, Amanda shares funny and charming stories about life through the farming year with her family and their many four-legged charges at Ravenseat, from lambing and shearing in spring, to haymaking in summer and feeding the flock in midwinter. Her gorgeous photographs showcase the famous Swaledale landscape she writes about, with its sweeping moors, rare wildflowers and elusive hares glimpsed in the fields.
“Amanda lives in tune with nature, and her attitude to food is the same. She believes in buying good, seasonal ingredients when it comes to feeding her family, and includes her favourite recipes here: from wild garlic lamb with hasselback new potatoes, to rhubarb and custard crumble cake and Yorkshire curd tart. As inspirational as Amanda herself, this book is a beautiful keepsake that will delight everyone who has followed her adventures so far.”
Connell commented: “We’re incredibly proud to be publishing our fifth book with Amanda Owen. Her beautiful and evocative photographs of daily life on her farm have been delighting her followers on Twitter and Instagram for years, and I’m so glad we are doing full justice to them in this stunning book. I know her fans will love it.’
Owen added: “This is the book I've always wanted to write. It takes me back to [E and John Forder's] Hill Shepherd, a beautifully illustrated book that really resonated with me when I was a teenager and inspired me to become a shepherdess. Over the years so many people who follow me on social media have said I should put together a book of my photographs and I'm glad I've finally found the time to do it.”
Cantello said: “We’re delighted to be working with the Pan Macmillan team again and embarking on an exciting new departure for Amanda, as she shares her wonderful family photography and delicious recipes from Ravenseat Farm.”
