Pan Macmillan has landed Geoff Shreeves’ "wildly entertaining" autobiography Cheers, Geoff! Tales from the Touchline.
Matthew Cole, senior commissioning editor, acquired world rights from James Wills from Watson, Little. The autobiography will be published in hardback, e-book and audio in October 2022.
Shreeves has worked at Sky Sports since its launch more than 30 years ago, helping to launch the channel’s football coverage. His autobiography is full of stories from his careers including interviews with Cristiano Ronaldo, Frank Lampard and Alan Shearer. The publisher wrote: "It is the close personal relationships Geoff has built with Sir Alex Ferguson, José Mourinho, Arsène Wenger, Steven Gerrard and many more of the game’s star names which set him apart."
Cole commented: “Geoff is the best reporter in the business and I am thrilled he is finally writing about his experiences. A natural storyteller, his book is absolutely stuffed with wildly entertaining and hilarious stories from in front, and behind, the camera.”
“I still can’t quite believe I have been on the touchline for 30 years and it’s been quite some experience looking back at those three decades and beyond," said Shreeves. "Going from working as an estate agent to being at the heart of television coverage of the Premier League has been an extraordinary journey, one packed with incidents, stories and big-name characters from the world of football. Along the way I’ve encountered dozens of celebrities as well as having to get through some tough times including a mental health issue that nearly finished my career. I’m looking forward to sharing my story with the readers."
