Pan Mac signs six book deal with David Baldacci

Pan Macmillan has bought six more books from thriller writer David Baldacci as the publisher bids to build the author's sales in the UK and internationally.

Publishing director Trisha Jackson acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from The Aaron M. Priest Literary Agency in New York and the Abner Stein agency in the UK.

Jeremy Trevathan, Pan Macmillan Adult Books’ publisher, said Baldacci's novels were a "key" element of the company's fiction strategy for growth going forwards.

"His novels pack a terrific punch across a broad demographic in terms of age and gender and his outreach programs for literacy and libraries make him a wonderful international ambassador for books and the world we work in,” he said.

Jackson added: “David is a particularly special author for us, with two thriller titles publishing in each year we are delighted to have the opportunity to build his sales to even higher levels at home and internationally. His series characters, the roller-coaster action and clever plotting make it easy to see why he is one of the world’s favourite thriller writers. It’s wonderful to be able to continue what is an extremely exciting, satisfying and rewarding relationship.”

Baldacci said he was "thrilled" to have signed a new contract with Pan Macmillan for six more books. "A great partnership with a world class publisher continues,” he added.

Pan Macmillan has now sold 9.8m Baldacci titles across its territories showing consistent year on year growth, according to the publisher, which was this week named Publisher of the Year at the Nibbies.
