Editorial director Caroline Hogg acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Caroline Sheldon at Caroline Sheldon Literary Agency. The Woolworths Saturday Girls will be published in hardback on 3rd March 2022, and in paperback on 14th April 2022.
The synopsis reads: “It’s now 1950 and times are changing at Woolworths. This new chapter in the Woolworths follows the lives of the daughters of our original Woolworths Girls. Their loves, their ambitions and how they navigate an ever-changing world.”
A second novel will be released in hardback on 1st September 2022, with a paperback following on 13th October 2022.
Hogg said: “I am delighted to have more heart-warming and beautifully told stories from Elaine. Her Woolworths books have been a huge success for Pan Macmillan and have worked their way into the hearts of thousands of readers. We cannot wait to share what comes next from those Woolworth Girls.”
Everest is the author of novels The Woolworths Girls, The Butlins Girls, Christmas at Woolworths and The Teashop Girls, all published by Pan Macmillan. Born and brought up in north-west Kent, where many of her books are set, she has been a freelance writer for 25 years.
She said: “I'm thrilled to have signed with Pan Macmillan once again, and to be able to write more of my Woolworths stories. I never cease to pinch myself that I'm contracted by such a professional company which cares for its authors.”
Sheldon added: “It is so thrilling that the success of Elaine Everest’s sagas continues to build and reach even greater heights. A real talent in the field.”
