Pan Macmillan has acquired seven new titles from David Baldacci, who the publishing house first published in 2002.
Publisher Lucy Hale acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Caspian Dennis and Sandy Violette at Abner Stein on behalf of the Aaron M Priest Literary Agency in New York. Publishing director Francesca Pathak has become Baldacci’s editor at Pan Macmillan, following his long-time editor, Trish Jackson’s, decision to reduce her role at Pan Macmillan to two days a week.
Baldacci has published 48 internationally bestselling novels for adults to date, a number of which have been adapted for film and television. His novels are published in over 45 languages and in more than 80 countries. According to TCM Bookscan he has sold 5.79 million books for £32.8m in total, with 2017’s The Fix his bestseller, on 156,216 copies sold in paperback. Pan will publish the first book in the new contract in spring 2024.
Hale said: “We are proud to be David’s publisher and we are looking forward enormously to consolidating and building his readership, getting these books into the hands of his legions of fans and introducing him to new readers in all our markets.”
Jackson said: “We are all delighted to be publishing seven more books from David, who is a much-treasured gem in our crown of superbrand authors.”
Baldacci said: “My incredible publishing partnership with Pan Macmillan is only outweighed by the decades-long friendships that I have made with the immensely talented team of publishers there. I can say that no one works harder for me, and no one is more innovative or nimbler than Pan Mac.”
Priest said the team is delighted to continue its "fruitful and rewarding relationship" with Pan Macmillan.
