Pan Macmillan has landed a four-book deal from married couple Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegmund-Broka, after discovering their debut, The Roughest Draft, on TikTok.
Gillian Green, publishing director for fiction, acquired British Commonwealth rights from Emilie Mills, subsidiary rights co-ordinator at Penguin Random House US. The Roughest Draft was originally published by Berkley US. Pan will publish the novel in paperback and e-book in 2023 followed by Do I Know You? in February 2023 simultaneously with the US.
The Roughest Draft has had 1.2 million views on TikTok according to the publisher and follows two authors who, despite hating each other, are forced to work together on a new book. Do I Know You? is about a married couple trying to "recover the spark of their marriage" by pretending to be strangers and dating again.
Green said: “Emily and Austin’s utterly joyous rom-coms are the perfect antidote for our troubled times. Their books are laugh-out-loud funny with the most deliciously witty repartee and smart, clever and fun premises that we know fans of Emily Henry will adore. We’re delighted to be launching their books in the UK and bringing such major talents to Pan Macmillan."
Wibberley and Siegmund-Broka added: “We’re incredibly excited to be published in the UK and especially to work with Gillian Green on bringing our romances to new readers. It’s an honour to be part of the Pan Mac family!”
