Pan Macmillan has landed The House Hunt, a new thriller from C M Ewan.
Publishing director Vicki Mellor acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Camilla Bolton at the Darley Anderson Agency. It will be published in June 2023.
"Chris is a phenomenal thriller writer who takes a ‘what if’ and throws the reader into a world of danger, intrigue and non-stop pace," said Bolton. "From the first page of The House Hunt you are hooked; it’s a thriller you have to read in one sitting and then without a breath tell everyone you know about. I cannot wait for readers to open that first page as Lucy opens her front door to a stranger who will change her life forever."
The House Hunt follows a young woman who opens her door to let a stranger view her home, only to find out that they are not who they seem and appear to know far too much about her. A "white-knuckle ride" follows to find out if she escapes.
Mellor commented: “Chris works tirelessly to create brilliant and fast-paced thrillers that are perfectly positioned for today’s market. His ability to create a stunningly exciting proposition which immediately draws you in is second to none and his finished novel always exceeds my expectations and this is no exception. The House Hunt draws on some of our most basic fears — he doesn’t want the house, he wants you — and questions who you should let into your house in a truly originally and impactful way. The Interview has been widely acclaimed and received and I have no doubt that readers will absolutely love The House Hunt."
Ewan said: "As a huge fan of contained thrillers and novels about everyday encounters gone sideways, I’m delighted to be working with the brilliant team at Pan Macmillan on publishing The House Hunt. I’m so grateful for Vicki and Camilla’s incredible insight and expertise, and look forward to taking readers on a new kind of house tour next year.”
