Pan Macmillan will publish Endurance by former Royal Marine and SAS soldier captain Louis Rudd.
Editorial director Ingrid Connell acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Julian Alexander at The Soho Agency for an undisclosed sum. Endurance will be published in hardback on 11th June 2020.
The book tells the story of captain Louis Rudd as the first Briton, and one of only two men, to have crossed Antarctica solo and unsupported. To survive, he had to battle temperatures of -30 degrees Celsius and 60mph winds. He pulled through thanks to his three decades in the military with dispatches in the Middle East, Northern Ireland and Kosovo, which honed his survival skills.
Connell said: "Louis Rudd is a brilliant storyteller who grips the reader from the very first page as he vividly describes his death-defying journeys across the harsh terrain of Antarctica. I was left in awe of Louis’ achievements and inspired by his strength and resilience."
Rudd added: "With Endurance, I wanted not just to share the incredible experiences I've been through, but to inspire others to go on and achieve their own goals and dreams. I'm grateful to my publisher Pan Macmillan for making it possible."
